I took this picture on the beach of Lake Tahoe on a summer night not too long ago. My eye is immediately drawn to two points: the small moon and the blazing fire at the bottom. Yet if you take a moment to look closer, you can see the outline of a tall pine tree and the mountains in the background. It's beautiful the way the light fades more and more as it moves away from the location of the sun below the mountains, and the fact that the more you stare the more you see makes me really like this kind of lighting. It's like when you turn off the lights and have to take a moment to adjust because your eyes are used ot seeing light. From afar, this picture pretty much looks like a black blob with two pinches of light. Rather, it is a scenic picture that combines many colors to create one beautiful scene.
