Roll Bounce

Last night, my boyfriend and I decided to go to a roller skating rink in Fountain Valley. When we entered the building, the dim lighting cast off a grayish color onto the area outside of the actual rink. It gave the room that dull, grainy quality that movies from the 80s had. In contrast, the lighting inside the rink was cheery and colorful. Silver disco balls bounced shards of white light in a circular direction onto the floor. Colored string lights were patterned into swirls across the walls. There were neon greens, reds, pinks, oranges, royal blues…the choice of colors helped transform a plain skating arena into a rink that might have existed in the 1970s or 80s; it transported you back in time. And that’s always fun.
